Abstract/Notes

Somatosensory and dermatomal evoked potentials are used for localizing neurological insults in the peripheral and central conducting pathways from the upper and lower extremities. In an attempt to further increase the levels of sensitivity and specificity for identifying the etiology of sensory complaints, we propose a method of Differential Diagnostic Somatosensory Evoked Potential Testing, and an algorithm for analysis of the results. Locations of clinical and subclinical compromise of the neural pathway can be determined with a high degree of accuracy, and with an objective indicator as to the level or levels of involvement.
